Fan site for the talented Jennifer Connelly with pictures and movies
Jennifer often plays intelligent, thoughtful characters in most of her films. But she has had her share of flops, which she would rather forget. Her acting debut came in an episode of the British horror-anthology series “Tales of the Unexpected” and her movie debut in the film “Once Upon a Time in America, directed by Sergio Leone, who will be instrumental in getting Jennifer most of her next movie projects. Dario Argento, a horror movie master, recognized her talent and cast her in the lead of his 1985 movie “Phenomena”, who also directed her in the previous Italian film “Suspiria”. The film made it big in Europe, but was cut for American distribution. She didn’t want to be stereotyped in the horror genre, so her next film, “Seven Minutes in Heaven”, was not about young girls covered in maggots and insects. Instead, she played a Grade-A student who lets a troubled male friend stay at her house.
Then came the movie “Labyrinth”. A much more mainstream type of movie, “Labyrinth” is about a young girl (Connelly) who is frustrated with her young brother and asks the goblins to take him away, which they do. She now has to discover the key to the Goblin King’s (David Bowie) labyrinth and rescue her little brother.
After Labyrinth, she starred in several obscure films where her growing status as America’s sex kitten was the only notable feature. In 1991, she was cast alongside Billy Campbell, who became her real-life boyfriend, in the Disney movie “The Rocketeer”. This film catapulted Jennifer’s star into new heights. She studied for a while during the early 1990’s, but in 1994 started a streak of movies including “Of Love and Shadows”, “Higher Learning”, “Mulholland Falls”, “Far Harbor” “Inventing the Abotts”, “Dark City” and “Waking the Dead”.
She then went on to make “Requiem for a Dream”, which earned her further acclaim as she portrayed drug-addled prostitute Marion Silver. She also starred in “Pollock”, opposite Ed Harris in this movie about the famous artist. “A Beautiful Mind” was the next project for this green-eyed beauty. The movie cemented her status as one of the best actresses in Hollywood today as she won both an Oscar and Golden Globe for her supporting role as Russell Crowe’s wife in this critically-acclaimed and multi-awarded film.
Now having the recognition she deserves, she has had numerous other films after “A Beautiful Mind”, including “Hulk”, “Dark Water”, “Little Children”, “Blood Diamond” and “Reservation Road”. Future movies for this Hollywood hottie include “He’s Just Not That Into You”, “9” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still”.
